The first months of this 2023-24 season do not reassure observers of Olympique de Marseille.

Olympique de Marseille is at a standstill. Less than a week after the terrible incidents which led to the postponement of the match against Lyon, the Marseille club had to settle for a goalless draw against a direct competitor for the top of the table, Lille (0-0).

A lackluster performance which does not encourage optimism for the rest of this campaign. Are OM equipped to finish on the podium and qualify for the Champions League? Consultant for TF1 and former French international, Rio Mavuba did not hide his skepticism.

I think we should still have a little worry, launched the former midfielder in Téléfoot. The coach is better placed than us but OM need to win matches quickly. The objective is to be on the podium at the end of the season and there the podium gets further away as the days go by.

An offensive animation pointed out

What is worrying is the offensive animation, continued Mavuba. Last season, when the attackers didn’t score, and I’m also thinking of Alexis Sanchez who scored a few goals, there were the defenders who scored. I think of Tavares, who left, of Mbemba, of Gigot. It unblocked situations. Today OM is lacking that“, he concluded.
