Real Madrid have set their sights on Chelsea star Reece James as they prepare to replace Dani Carvajal.

The Madrid club have been monitoring the Blues captain for some time now, as they look to replace their long-serving right-back Carvajal. According to Mundo Deportivo, James has satisfied everyone at the Bernabeu, especially Carlo Ancelotti. The Stamford Bridge right-back’s long-term contract does not expire until 2028 and he has not indicated he intends to leave west London.

With 386 appearances in 10 years in the Madrid jersey, Carvajal has distinguished himself in the Spanish capital. Although he was a major asset for Real Madrid, helping them win three La Liga, two Copa del Rey and five Champions Leagues, his best years are now behind him.

James and Chelsea will face Tottenham on Monday November 6.
