Ligue 1: PSG wins against Montpellier and takes first place

The 11th day of Ligue 1 began this Friday at the Parc des Princes. Indeed, PSG hosted Montpellier for a meeting which could allow the Parisians to temporarily take first place. To do this, Luis Enrique regained confidence in his 4-2-4, sometimes efficient and sometimes failing. For his part, Michel Der Zakarian lined up the same eleven which beat Toulouse last week (3-0). And from the first moments, the MHSC appeared threatening against the locals. Despite the Mamadou Sakho affair which could have affected the balance of a Hérault group in form since the start of the season, they had a more than satisfactory start to the meeting. Close to opening the score (2nd), Téji Savanier’s teammates finally conceded the opener. Following a nice cross from Achraf Hakimi that Kylian Mbappé let pass, Kang-In Lee was found full axis and armed with an unstoppable strike for Benjamin Lecomte, which finished its race in the top corner (1-0, 10th). The South Korean striker’s first goal stunned the visitors. More realistically, PSG then pushed to make the break. Led by an inspired but unhappy Ousmane Dembélé against Lecomte (26th), Luis Enrique’s flock did not manage to double the lead before the break despite clear domination and extensive control of possession (69% in the first period).

Upon returning from the locker room, the residents of the Parc des Princes did not take their foot off the accelerator. Very inspired, the Parisian players increased their attacks and were more precise than at the end of the first act. Obviously, the MHSC’s lock was blown after a while and in what way. Impactful in penetration, Warren Zaire-Emery found Ousmane Dembélé on the right of the area. Precise but not in a hurry, the former Barça player cleverly handed the ball back to WZE. A caviar for the 17-year-old midfielder who was quick to unleash a shot that left Lecomte with no chance (2-0, 58th). And faced with a more than efficient Parisian right lane this evening, the Montpellier defense took on water on that side. Once again, Achraf Hakimi struggled to offer caviar to Vitinha in the background. Coming into play in the 62nd minute in place of an excellent Kang-In Lee, the former Porto man placed an unstoppable strike which allowed PSG to complete their seventh success in Ligue 1 this season (3-0, 66th ). Exuding a very appreciable collective strength this evening, Paris Saint-Germain put in a very serious performance. With this high-quality success, PSG seizes first place in the ranking and has prepared itself as well as possible before its trip to AC Milan this Tuesday in the Champions League (9 p.m.). For its part, the MHSC was amorphous this evening and got bogged down in the soft underbelly of the ranking (11th).
