Ballon d'Or: Haaland's cold message to Messi

Erling Haaland congratulated Lionel Messi after the Argentina star won his record eighth Ballon d’Or on Monday.

Haaland sent a congratulatory message to Messi, despite losing the Ballon d’Or to the Argentine superstar on Monday in Paris. The Norwegian striker shared Messi’s Instagram post with the Golden Ball on his story and wrote a very sober “Congratulations @LEOMESSI”.

Despite scoring 52 goals in all competitions and winning the treble with the Cityzens, Haaland came second behind the 36-year-old who was instrumental in Argentina winning the World Cup title at Qatar last year.

After receiving the coveted award for the eighth time in his career, Messi recognized Haaland’s efforts last season and even said the City star could have won the award this year as well.
