Argentina international Lionel Messi does not see himself winning a 9th Ballon d’Or in the future.

Now an eight-time Ballon d’Or winner, after his eighth coronation at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris on Monday, Lionel Messi confided in an interview with LTeam and made ahead of the ceremony, which he believes to have won the prestigious distinction for the last time in his career.

“It’s been a while since I stopped thinking about the Ballon d’Or, It was never a priority for me to win it, and even less so now after everything I have accomplished, confided the “Pulga”. I think this is my last Ballon d’Or (…) and I am very happy to be the only one to have eight,” estimated the 2022 world champion.

Over the past two decades, the native of Rosario has won the title of best player of the season six times while playing for FC Barcelona (2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2015, 2019), once in Paris Saint-Germain (2021), and once at Inter Miami (2023).
