The Argentinian is not convinced by the idea of presenting his Ballon d’Or at the Parc des Princes.
Arriving this Monday in Paris to be awarded his eighth Ballon d’Or on the stage of the Théâtre du Châtelet, Lionel Messi should not stay long in the capital. His season with Inter Miami is certainly already over, but the Argentinian should leave quickly. And the former Barcelona player obviously does not intend to return there to present his trophy to the public at the Parc des Princes, as the idea was submitted to him at a press conference.
“I’m not sure that the Parisians want me to present the Ballon d’Or at the Parc”, he whispered with a smile. A reference to the whistles he was the target of several times during his two seasons with the Rouge et Bleu. The story between the native of Rosario and PSG ended in bitterness and the now eight-time Ballon d’Or winner was careful not to mention the capital club in his speech after receiving his trophy.
Asked at a press conference about the weight of PSG in this eighth Ballon d’Or, Lionel Messi barely agreed to a few sweet words for Paris. “My time in Paris did not go as I hoped for different reasons. I lived in Paris for two years and I have very good friends there, I enjoyed the city a lot,” he said, adding: “My sons really enjoyed it and it cost them a lot to leave Paris because they didn’t want to move yet and wanted to stay in their school and with their friends. It’s an incredible city in which I had the chance to live for a while. From a sporting point of view, it didn’t go as I hoped but I keep in mind all the good things I experienced, and there were a lot of them too. »
