Bayer Leverkusen is on a mission. On Sunday, Florian Wirtz’s team, again a scorer, won against Friborg at home (2-1). A success which allows the German club to still be 2 points ahead of Bayern Munich, who crushed Darmstadt for their part (8-0). Leader of the Bundesliga, Bayer is on its way to an exceptional first part of the season with already 8 victories in 9 days, and still no setbacks. Xabi Alonso embodies this success.

The young 41-year-old coach, tracked by Real Madrid, continues his meteoric rise by breaking records. Xabi Alonso has become the first coach to win 8 competitive matches in a row with Bayer in the first division since the club’s rise in 1979. He is thus ahead of Klaus Toppmöller (72), author of 7 consecutive victories during the famous 2001/02 season. The former Liverpool midfielder is gradually writing his name in Germany, he who could return to Casa Blanca in the event of the departure of Carlo Ancelotti.
