At the end of August, the executive committee of the French Football Federation tried to appoint Thierry Henry at the head of the Espoirs to replace Sylvain Ripoll, in a situation of failure. A strong choice on the part of the French body which paid off insofar as the former Gunner achieved a flawless performance. Indeed, the Bleuets have 3 victories in as many matches since his arrival. Almost two months later, Philippe Diallo was asked about the dream debut of the former French international. Seduced by the intrinsic qualities of the man despite his mixed experiences at the number 1 position, the boss of the FFF revealed that he never hesitated when entrusting him with the reins of the young selection.

“Personally, I had no doubts. If we chose him, it’s because we thought he was the best at that time. The qualities detected in him began to assert themselves through good results in the Euro qualifiers. The Thierry Henry effect is, moreover, undeniable. Nearly 15,000 spectators were there for his first match in Nancy. He attracts and embodies this position”declared the French leader in the columns from the Parisian.
