With good memories of George Weah. Without a doubt, the Liberian striker will have left his mark on the 1990s. Revealed under the colors of AS Monaco, the native of Monrovia made the heyday of Paris Saint-Germain before dazzling the Italian championship under the colors of AC Milan, while in the meantime becoming the first African player to win the Ballon d’Or in 1995. After a final experience at Al-Jazeera, the former Milanese was quick to trade in his footballer costume to launch into politics.

Elected president of the Republic of Liberia in 2018, George Weah is set to serve a second term. As relayed Ace this Wednesday, the 57-year-old political leader collected approximately 43.83% of the votes in the presidential elections which took place on October 10, 2023. He is a short head ahead of his main opponent Joseph Boakai, former vice-president of Liberia between 2006 and 2018, who for his part collected 43.44% of the votes. The two men will therefore face each other in a second round which promises to be close given the approximately 7,000 votes that separate them.
