Premier League: Tottenham takes the leadership position after its victory against Fulham

Undefeated since the start of the season in the Premier League, with a record of six wins and two draws in eight matches played, Tottenham hosted this Monday, at the end of the 9th day of the English championship, Fulham, the only team to have upset them at the start of the season with an elimination against the Cottagers on penalties in the 32nd finals of the League Cup. And what could be better than winning against your last tormentor while climbing on the first step of the podium to erase this painful memory.

And as often since the start of the season, Tottenham has relied on its two favorite heroes. On one side the “old” veteran, on the other the “young” recruit. During a very lively first period between the two London teams, during which the Spurs and the Cottagers each had their opportunities to open the score, it was ultimately Ange Postecoglou’s players who were rewarded in finding the fault through their captain, Heung-Min Son, currently in a state of grace with his seventh achievement in the Premier League (36th, 1-0).

Tottenham takes the lead!

After the break, it was the turn of James Maddison, who arrived from Leicester during the previous summer transfer window, to make the difference to score the goal of the break, bring his total to two goals and five assists in the Premier League and launch ideally the Spurs towards a new victory in the English championship (54th, 2-0). Despite this very good evening, the two scorers missed a great opportunity to add another layer after a disagreement between the two key players at the start of the season on the Tottenham side (75th).

At the very end of the match, Guglielmo Vicario made a very good save in front of Raul Jimenez to keep his clean sheets (84th) and the referee whistled the end of the match on this logical success for Spurs at home. Thanks to this superb victory, the seventh now in the Premier League, Tottenham continues its flawless performance in England and therefore logically regains the leadership chair at Manchester City before facing Crystal Palace on the next day of the English championship.
