Real Madrid general manager José Angel Sanchez has denied rumors that Luka Modric will leave the club to join the Saudi Pro League in January.
Modric, 37, has been used in a rotational role by Carlo Ancelotti since the start of the campaign, with Eduardo Camavinga, Jude Bellingham, Aurélien Tchouameni, Federico Valverde and Toni Kroos all logging more minutes than the former midfielder of Tottenham this season.
As a result, his future at the Santiago Bernabéu was called into question and Inter Miami and Saudi Arabia were touted as possible destinations for Modric.
The 37-year-old has expressed his dissatisfaction with his current role at Real and it appears likely he will leave the club when his contract expires next summer.
However, Sanchez played down reports that Modric was discussing a move.
The leader thus swept away any suspicion for Goal Arabic: “There are no official negotiations from Saudi League officials to include Luca next January, and we have no idea of his departure from the team at this time.”
The Pro League, which continues to select top European talent and bring them to Saudi Arabia, has been linked to the arrival of several big stars in recent months.
