DAZN and Sky have been confirmed as broadcasters of Serie A for the period 2024 and 2029. For an amount of 900 million euros annually which would be the envy of Ligue 1.

It’s Vincent Labrune who will be envious… Serie A has found its broadcasters for the period 2024-2029, and they will be DAZN and Sky, who will share the broadcast of the Italian championship.

The clubs validated this agreement, with 17 votes in favor out of 20. The project of Neapolitan president Aurelio de Laurentiis, which was to create a channel dedicated to Serie A, was rejected. The breakdown will be the same as in the previous cycle: DAZN will spend 700 million euros per year to offer its subscribers the 10 matches of each day, while sky will pay 200 million euros to co-broadcast three matches.

This agreement interests Ligue 1 on two points. Firstly because we now know that Serie A is worth 900 million euros. This is more than the 800 million euros (minimum) hoped for by the LFP for the two batches of broadcasts of the matches, which were not the subject of any offer during the first stage of the call for tenders. offers.

Next, this confirms that DAZN is very interested in European football. The “Netflix of sport” has already set foot in Ligue 1, co-broadcasting the two matches held by Canal+ each day. For the call for tenders for the period 2024-2029, the platform submitted a qualitative file to the LFP, to explain its project, but without formulating a quantified offer. DAZN could be an option for Ligue 1.
