“Only Messi and Ronaldo were better than Eden Hazard”

A former teammate of Eden Hazard believes the Belgian gem flirted with excellence when he was at the top of his game.

Vincent Kompany, Burnley manager, spoke very highly of his former Belgian teammate, Eden Hazard.

“Hazard, one of the greatest magicians in football”

The former Chelsea and Real Madrid striker announced his retirement last week. Since then, tributes to him have been pouring in and the latest to have spoken about him and therefore his former captain with the Red Devils.

Kompany said: “For me, at a certain point, and he knows it, he was a player who was just below Ronaldo and Messi in terms of level. He had a great career, including with his selection.”

Hazard could have been rewarded for all his efforts in 2018. With his national team, he was very close to winning the world champion title. And he also finished 8e in the Ballon d’Or rankings.

“We didn’t expect to have players of this level, but we got one of the greatest magicians in the game,” added an always admiring Kompany.
