A new case of racist abuse in Spanish football occurred on Saturday evening.
Real Madrid’s 1-1 draw against Sevilla at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan was a thrilling match, which both teams should have won. Unfortunately, this match was overshadowed by another case of racist abuse in Spanish football.
Sevilla FC expelled a supporter from the stadium mid-match for “racist and xenophobic behavior”. Vinicius Junior also revealed after the match that he had witnessed another racist incident involving a young girl.
It’s not possible that La Liga will be able to assimilate without an attitude, it’s simply absurd or that I’m talking about Vinicius Jr.
But a Brazilian jogador was deprived of racism in Spain. Chega, basta… pic.twitter.com/On47LE5bl1

The incident that Vinicius may be referring to could be the one that appears in the video above. We see a young Sevilla supporter making a monkey gesture towards the Brazilian during a melee between Sevilla and Real Madrid players.
It is quite depressing that such incidents continue to occur, especially when, in this case, the perpetrator is so young. It is clear that more needs to be done to combat racism in Spain, but it remains to be seen whether the authorities will do so.
