Lionel Messi played his last match of the season with Inter Miami on the night of Saturday to Sunday.
The MLS regular season is over. During the night from Saturday to Sunday, the final day delivered its verdict. The 14 qualified for the playoffs and the 4 play-offs are thus known. And we already knew that Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami was not among the qualified teams.
For its last match of the season, the franchise co-owned by David Beckham lost 1-0 to Charlotte. Established by Tata Martino for the first time since September 20, Lionel Messi did not find the fault. The Argentinian world champion was unsuccessful, having had a goal refused for offside (49th), before hitting the post on a free-kick (62nd).
Four months of vacation for Messi
Lionel Messi thus played his last match of the season with Inter Miami, who finished penultimate in the Eastern Conference. The former Parisian will therefore return to the field with his club in February 2024. In the meantime he will play two matches with Argentina, against Uruguay (November 17) and Brazil (November 22), as part of the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.
As a reminder, the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner has played 11 matches (in all competitions) with Inter Miami since his arrival at the start of the summer, scoring 11 goals and providing 5 assists.
