The reigning champions were unable to take cover afterwards, and Ansu Fati even reduced the gap after a Seagulls counter-attack in the second half (73rd). City still won, the exclusion of Manuel Akanji in the 95th minute being anecdotal.
Man City regains the lead in the standings from Liverpool (who won against Everton earlier), while Brighton is 7th with this 3rd defeat in 9 days.
