The Racing Club de Lens had to settle for a goalless draw on the Le Havre pitch this Friday, at the opening of the 9th day of Ligue 1 (0-0).
An attractive game, integrated recruits, found executives and a series of 5 matches without the slightest setback in all competitions: a wind of renewal is blowing over Lens at the start of autumn. After a very delicate start to the campaign, Franck Haise’s team found its cruising speed. Paradoxically, it was by rubbing shoulders with the best on the European scene that the Sang et Or regained confidence. A state of form which is also reflected in Ligue 1, with a series of performances which allowed them to move away from the red zone.
The fact remains that Lens still had to move on to regain the places of honor. A victory in Le Havre this Friday evening allowed the French vice-champions to make a small temporary leap into the top 10. The photograph was not anecdotal. Lens has never explored this first part of the picture since the curtain rose. It was still necessary to avoid the trap set by Le Havre, which the Lensois did not manage to do.
Lens lacking realism
Less effective in the last gesture than during their last outings, the Sang et Or were unable to capitalize on their strong moments. Conversely, the Normandy team, without complexes, showed astonishing courage to resist the waves of the visitors. However, the HAC trembled as the minutes passed, particularly in a suffocating end to the match where the Lensois wasted the last ammunition, like Danso (68th, 86th), Fulgini (72nd) or even Sotoca, whose goal was refused a few minutes before the final whistle (90th + 3). The score has no longer changed. A small feat for a promotion that is always so deserving.
