PSG’s priority track this winter in the transfer window, Rayan Cherki has little chance of signing in Paris this summer. Which does not mean that the French international hopeful will not leave OL in the coming weeks.

Despite a more convincing second half of the season than the first, Olympique Lyonnais failed to secure their qualification for the Conference League. For the second year in a row, Les Gones will not play in the European Cup next year. A terrible blow for the Rhone club in view of the next transfer window. And for good reason, it will become much more difficult to attract high-class players to Lyon but also to keep the best elements already present at the club like Castello Lukeba or Rayan Cherki.

As far as OL’s attacking midfielder is concerned, there are many courtiers. In France, Paris Saint-Germain is watching the 19-year-old nugget very closely. Luis Campos wanted to recruit Rayan Cherki last winter and had offered 10 million euros to Jean-Michel Aulas, a sum considered insulting by the then president of Lyon. Now at the helm, John Textor did not make Cherki an untransferable player during this summer transfer window.

Newcastle very hot on Cherki, PSG much less

On the other hand, it will be necessary to pay the price to obtain the services of the young tricolor attacking midfielder. Also interested, Newcastle could approach the requirements of OL in this file. Indeed, the Express claims that the Magpies are very keen to sign a check of around 50 million euros to recruit Rayan Cherki during the summer transfer window. An amount much more in line with what Lyon is demanding for the transfer of its pearl and on which Paris SG has already refused to align.

The trend is therefore no longer at all for a signing with the reigning French champion for Cherki, whose future should rather be written between OL and Newcastle. It now remains to be seen if a total agreement will be found between the Gones and the Magpies and if the player will agree to join the Premier League. At first glance, it seems unlikely that Cherki will refuse an English club qualified for the Champions League and which will undoubtedly multiply his salary by three or four. OL supporters can therefore begin to tremble.
