The Major League Soccer (MLS) Players’ Association (MLSPA) has revealed the salaries of members of the 29 teams.
It’s anything but a surprise. Landed this summer at Inter Miami, Lionel Messi is the highest paid player in the North American championship. According to the figures revealed by the Major League Soccer Players’ Association (MLSPA), the former Parisian dominates the ranking of the highest salaries thanks to his 20 million annual dollars (19 million euros).
In detail, the Argentinian receives a basic annual salary of 12 million dollars (or 11.4 million euros), to which is added various bonuses allowing him to reach the mark of 20 million dollars guaranteed. This sum does not include goal bonuses or sponsorship contracts, according to NBC Sports.
Thanks to his 19 million euros, he is ahead of the Italian Lorenzo Insigne, who received 14.6 million euros in Toronto, and the Swiss Xherdan, paid 7.7 million euros in Chicago. The Mexican Javier Hernandez and the Italian Federico Bernardeschi complete the Top 5 with respectively 7 million euros at LA Galaxy and 5.9 million euros at Toronto.
