Kalvin Philipps’ adventure at Manchester City has never convinced. Transferred from Leeds a year and a half ago in exchange for a check for €57 million, the midfielder had nevertheless achieved an accomplished Euro 2020. He is also still a starter in Gareth Southgate’s mind, despite little playing time at the club. Since the summer of 2022, the midfielder has only appeared on the pitch 26 times in all competitions for the Cityzens. A frankly complicated situation that Philipps would like to put an end to. After England’s success over Italy (3-1), he informed the BBC of his desires elsewhere.
“I will have to make a decision about my future over the next few months. He (Gareth Southgate) just says that for me to keep my place I have to play games and that’s what I want to do. I agree with Gareth on this point. I want to play as much as possible. Over the last year and a half, I haven’t been able to do it due to injuries and other factors. That’s something I’ll have to think about. I hope my chance comes, but if it doesn’t, I will have to make other decisions as well. Phlipps has been in Bayern Munich’s sights for several weeks.
