“We’re going to break your legs if you don’t repay”: Fagioli’s ordeal

Suspended seven months for illicit betting, Italian Juventus midfielder Nicolo Fagioli returned to the consequences of his addiction to gambling.

The Italian Football Federation has deliberated. Juventus Italian international Nicolo Fagioli, is now subject to a 7-month suspension for illegal betting. He was also fined 12,500 euros. In this affair of illicit betting, the midfielder of the Old Lady was guilty of having bet money on matches organized by the FIGC, UEFA or FIFA. Before the announcement of his suspension, the native of Plaisance also confessed to having accumulated a gambling debt amounting to “3 million euros”.

“At night, I couldn’t sleep anymore, first confided Fagioli. The more time passed, the more my debt became an obsession and the more money I owed kept increasing, I only thought about gambling to try to get it all back, he explained in comments reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport. (…) I had such a big debt that when I bet, I no longer collected anything. The owners of the illegal platforms I bet on told me: ‘We’re going to break your legs if you don’t pay back what you owe.’ The money I earned was only used to reduce what I owed to these platforms. »

The player pre-trained in the US Cremonese also revealed that he had borrowed the sum of 40,000 euros from his former teammate at Juve, Romanian international Radu Dragusin. “I convinced him by telling him that my accounts were blocked and I wanted to buy my mother a watch. I still haven’t given him back the money he continues to demand from me.” (…) “Now, I specify that I have stopped betting and that I intend to continue my treatment journey”he assured.
