The noose is tightening around FC Barcelona! After the former bosses of Barça Josep Maria Bartomeu and Sandro Rosell last March, the current boss of the Catalan club Joan Laporta has, in turn, been indicted by the Spanish courts for his involvement in the Negreira affair, scandal arbitration which has been stirring up Spanish football for several weeks.

According to the facts, the reigning Spanish champion is accused of having made regular payments to José Maria Enriquez Negreira, former referee and vice-president of the Technical Committee of Referees (CTA) of the Spanish Football Federation between 2001 and 2018 with the aim of obtaining more lenient arbitration. Payments would have been made via the company Dasnil 95, belonging to the ex-official, and would have stopped when the latter lost his position. Note that the affair took a new turn the day after the search of the CTA headquarters by the Spanish authorities at the end of September.
