Historic victory for the Bleuets!

For their 3rd qualifying match for the next Euro U21, Thierry Henry’s France Espoirs team won with an unprecedented score of 9-0 against Cyprus on Tuesday in Grenoble.

After a victory snatched in the 92nd minute last Friday, in Bosnia-Herzegovina (1-2), the France Espoirs team continued with the reception of Cyprus, Tuesday evening at the Stade des Alpes in Grenoble. Thierry Henry’s Bleuets not only scored their third victory in a row in the U21 Euro qualifiers (to stay at the top of their group), they also obtained the largest victory in the history of the selection in winning with a score of 9 to 0!

Rayan Cherki, undoubtedly the centerpiece of the new French coach’s team, was particularly phenomenal. He first provoked the CSC of Evagoras Antoniou on the French opener (13th), before offering a goal to Maghnes Akliouche (39th). Arnaud Kalimuendo also scored twice during this first period (30th from the penalty spot, 45th).

After half-time, the OL prodigy scored twice (65th and 80th), in addition to making his second assist for Mathys Tel (70th). Chrislain Matsima also shook the nets (57th) and Tel concluded this incredible offensive festival with his second personal goal at the end of the match (94th).

Next match against Austria, in November, for these Espoirs who will serve as the French Olympic team during the Paris Olympics next year.
