During the summer of 2017, PSG under the Qatari flag took a new turn. In hindsight, this one was poorly negotiated.

On March 8, 2017, PSG experienced one of the darkest evenings in its history by losing 6-1 on the Camp Nou pitch in the Champions League. “We will remain ambitious in the next transfer market”, announced President Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, three days after this famous “remontada”, during an interview given to Parisian.

During the summer transfer window that followed, the capital club hit very hard. First by lifting Neymar’s release clause (222 million euros) then by poaching the prodigy Kylian Mbappé from Monaco. Many Parisian supporters then thought that this “comeback” was ultimately a blessing in disguise. Except that since that time, the Rouge et Bleu have still not won the Champions League and have experienced new disappointments in this competition.

According to Didier Roustan, this summer transfer window constituted a real turning point for PSG under QSI. “In 2017, Neymar and Mbappé arrived. There were these two stars and a climate that changed compared to before, with certain players who could be contemptuous compared to others.wanted to recall the journalist Didier Roustan on the set of The Channel L’Equipe.
