Aurélien Tchouameni has assured Real Madrid fans that he will play in defense when necessary this season.
The France international has continued to rise in importance in Carlo Ancelotti’s side in recent months, amid a growing injury crisis for the Whites.
With the absence of Eder Militao due to a knee injury and minor injuries and suspensions reducing Ancelotti’s options, Tchouameni has taken over in central defense.
Even though things are starting to improve for Ancelotti, Tchouameni is ready to play wherever he is needed in the coming months as Real Madrid prepare to battle on multiple fronts.
“It is possible that the team will need me again in defense. I had good performances when I played there, but I had more fun in the middle.”
Real Madrid return to La Liga on October 21 and Tchouameni is expected to play alongside Antonio Rudiger again, after both players kept a clean sheet in the 4-0 home win over Osasuna.
