Recruited for 10 million euros from Granada just a year ago, Luis Suarez was loaned by OM to Almeria this winter.

The Colombian’s loan to Almeria was rather conclusive with four goals and five assists during the second half of the season. On the gong, the club in which Luis Suarez was loaned snatched his maintenance in La Liga. Excellent news… for Olympique de Marseille. And for good reason, Marseille president Pablo Longoria had included a clause in Luis Suarez’s contract so that the Colombian’s loan becomes a permanent transfer if Almeria remains in the Spanish first division.

It is now done, which means that the Colombian striker, a real flop for the first six months under the colors of OM, will not return to France. His final transfer is estimated at around eight million euros by the Spanish press. A good deal for Marseille, which limits the breakage by recovering its starting bet. The former Granada striker, recruited to everyone’s surprise by Pablo Longoria in July 2022, will therefore only have played 11 games in the colors of Olympique de Marseille, including four in the Champions League, for a total of 3 goals and an assist.

Almeria maintained in La Liga, Luis Suarez will not return to OM

A very meager record which will not make it part of the memories of Olympian supporters when he was barred by competition from Alexis Sanchez or even during the time of Bamba Dieng in the Marseille city. For the Marseille staff, this departure is excellent news with the saving of a salary and a nice check arriving in the coffers. This will not be too much to strengthen the workforce during this summer transfer window, especially in the offensive sector where it will be vital to better support Alexis Sanchez.
