The Algeria coach knows how he intends to use his new weapon, the versatile striker from Stade Rennais.
Amine Gouiri made his debut with the Algerian selection on Thursday evening during the Greens’ victory against Cape Verde (5-1). While he plays more on the left with Stade Rennais, or even up front, the former French youth international was aligned as a second striker. His best position according to Djamel Belmadi.
“ Gouiri can play in 3 different positions, as number 9, as a left winger or as a second striker. For my part, I think where he is best is with a second striker, in a 9 and a half role. He likes to get off the ball and touch the ball,” explains the Algerian coach, in comments relayed by the DZFoot site.
Gouiri was partnered with Islam Slimani in a 4-4-2, where Riyad Mahrez lined up on the right flank. Author of a double, Houssem Aouar played central midfielder, with Ramiz Zerrouki (Feyenoord) at his side.
