FC Barcelona had an excellent summer transfer window, improving its squad while making significant profits.

Joao Felix, from Atlético de Madrid, was notably loaned for a season to the Catalan club.

FC Barcelona were linked with Felix for much of the summer, but a deal seemed unlikely for financial reasons. However, everything fell into place at the end of the transfer window and the 23-year-old joined fellow Portuguese Joao Cancelo from Manchester City.

Rumors have been circulating that FC Barcelona will pay a very low fee during Felix’s one-year stay. Eduard Romeu, economic vice-president of the club, confirmed this by telling L’Esportiu that FC Barcelona would only pay Felix 400,000 euros in salary during his stay in Catalonia.

Indeed, Felix accepted a pay cut at Atletico just before joining Barcelona, who will also not pay a loan fee to their La Liga rivals.

FC Barcelona are expected to try to sign Félix permanently next summer. Atletico Madrid’s asking price is said to be 80 million euros, which is unaffordable for the Catalans, but could nevertheless be possible by the end of the season.
