RB Leipzig managed to convince Paris Saint-Germain to loan Xavi Simons for an additional season, according to German media.

The young Dutch prodigy is once again highly coveted. After leaving PSG last year, the French club used a €6 million buyout clause to re-sign him after he tore through the Eredivisie with PSV.

On loan to Bundesliga club Leipzig, the 20-year-old has continued his dazzling PSV form this season, with three goals and four assists in seven Bundesliga matches, although he missed a penalty last weekend when Leipzig lost points against Bochum, a relegated club.

Simons is said to have attracted the attention of FC Barcelona and Man City, which is somewhat ironic given that he was on the former’s shelves after coming through the famous La Masia academy. The Blaugrana will have to pay a lot of money if they want to bring him back.

However, RB Leipzig have also expressed their intention to retain Simons. Sports director Max Eberl, who has just been fired, expressed this desire a few weeks ago. It seems that the German club is making progress in this direction.
