Sanchez, the temptation of a return to OM

Essential to OM last season, Alexis Sanchez is in full doubt at Inter. And winter could be eventful for Milan.

In the space of one season, like Didier Drogba, Alexis Sanchez has conquered the hearts of Marseille. Author of 18 goals in 3 assists in 44 outings in the sky and white jersey, the Chilean established himself as leader in the Marseille squad then led by Igor Tudor. So much so that his departure this summer – validated by the management of OM under somewhat vague strategic pretexts – left a big void at the club.

Ironically, Alexis Sanchez, back at Inter two months ago, has only been a shadow of himself since he left Marseille. Struck with anemia at the start of the year, the 34-year-old (he will celebrate his 35th birthday in two months) initially caused concern on the other side of the Alps about his physical condition. And while Marko Arnautovic is on the flank, the former Gunner and Blaugrana is struggling to gain playing time against the Lautaro Martinez-Marcus Thuram tandem.

Definitely blocked this winter

Since the start of the 2023-2024 financial year, Alexis Sanchez has only played five games with the Nerazzurri, for just one start and not a goal scored. The last achievement of the person concerned – hardly more effective in selection – dates back to May 14 with OM. And the Gazzetta dello Sport announced today the desire of Simone Inzaghi, Inter coach, to poach a new striker during the next winter transfer window. A reinforcement which would only darken the horizon of Alexis Sanchez who since his departure from Arsenal in 2018 has never seen more light than in Marseille.
