Algerian coach Djamel Belmadi has clarified the case of Youcef Belaili.

While he was one of the architects of the last Algerian coronation in the African Cup, Youcef Belaili has not been selected for the selection since last spring. He is not on the list of those called up for the October matches against Cape Verde and Egypt.

Belmadi does not close the door to Belaili

However, Belaili has found a fairly interesting level of performance with his new team MC Alger. He has made seven successful decisive moves since the start of the Algerian championship.

In the eyes of Djamel Belmadi, the coach, this was not enough to call on his services. He explained this at a press conference on Sunday: “As for Belaili. There are already other players who are there in his position. I follow the players, I know what they do, I watch everyone’s matches in full. Let him continue to work, I know what he is capable of.”

Belaili is not the only player in the local league to have been snubbed by Belmadi. The latter did not call up any field player playing in the country. However, he assures that he does not exclude anyone from his reflection: “Everyone who has the S12 is selectable. We took players who played in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Tunisia… We cast a very wide net. I have no problem with where you play. I have to be satisfied with a well-defined reservoir.”

As for the elements he will take to the CAN in Ivory Coast, he indicated: “On the list for this FIFA date, we find a base of players. This base is intended to participate in the next CAN. It will depend on playing time, injuries. But otherwise overall the group is almost there with 4 or 5 players close together.”
