Messi in Barcelona: “It’s likely”, says his coach

The hypothesis of a return of Lionel Messi to FC Barcelona has resurfaced in recent days. Including in the United States, where the state of grace is over.

All it took was a first hiccup for the soap opera to resume. After an idyllic debut in America, Lionel Messi has fallen into line. In question, an injury which deprived the seven-time Ballon d’Or of the last 4 matches of Inter Miami. Without its superstar, the Florida franchise was unable to maintain its rank and failed to qualify for the play-offs, with an entry on the hour mark against FC Cincinnati which was not enough to reverse the match scenario (0-1 defeat).

This hitch is not insignificant in Messi’s season. It marks a setback for the world champion, who had piled up goals like pearls during his first two months. Without the play-offs, the rest of this campaign will be much more hollow for Messi, who will have to plan for new objectives. Far from the United States? This is a hypothesis that cannot be excluded.

Martino’s quip about Messi’s future

Regularly announced at FC Barcelona since his departure two and a half years ago, Messi is once again the subject of return rumors. The Catalan press has been burning up on the subject for 24 hours, as have the American media. Even Gerardo Martino couldn’t dodge the question in front of the press. The former Barça coach got away with a joke which says a lot about the apparent vagueness around the striker. “If you tell me that he is going to go to Barcelona on vacation, it is likely, but I have no other information…”.
