One of the world’s greatest midfielders, Paul Pogba, is set to be handed a four-year ban.

Pogba tested positive for doping on August 20, after his club’s 3-0 victory against Udinese, in which he was a substitute.

Since last month, the former Mancunian has been provisionally suspended by Juventus, his first sample having revealed a high level of testosterone in his body.

His confirmatory test also came back positive yesterday, confirming that he had used drugs to enhance his football performance. The French international could face a two to four year ban if found guilty of doping.

According to reports, the Juventus midfielder is now receiving the union minimum of around 2,000 euros per month after Juventus suspended the remainder of his salary following his positive doping test. This means he only receives 42,000 euros per year on his 8 million euros per year contract, which is only 5% of his annual salary.

The salary of 2,000 euros per month is based on the rule that suspended players must receive the minimum wage in the country. However, this is a tiny salary compared to the 667,000 euros per month he received before his suspension.

Paul Pogba’s future is quite uncertain at the moment. He has not played for Juventus since September and, amid the investigation, it is uncertain whether he will be able to play football any time soon.
