Real Madrid defender Nacho Fernandez has expressed his fed up with the attacks he has been subject to in recent days.
Real Madrid defender Nacho Fernández has broken his silence following his red card on Saturday in Girona.
Nacho: “I’m not a murderer”
Nacho was sent off in injury time for a nasty Portu tackle with the visitors leading 3-0. Portu was then rushed to hospital. The Spanish international defender has since been suspended for three matches. He will notably miss the Classic against Barcelona.
After the victory against Napoli on Tuesday evening in the Champions League, Nacho spoke: “ It’s not easy to express yourself. I made a hard tackle. It’s a contact sport and the important thing is that Portu is doing well. I talked to him. “It was a hard tackle. I made a mistake, but I don’t consider myself a criminal or a murderer.”
The Merengue fullback admitted that his gesture was violent: “It was a difficult day. It (the tackle) was scary. I cannot dispute the sanction. I just had to apologize to Portu and I’m calmer now.”
Nacho concluded by indicating that he is disappointed to have to miss his team’s next outings: “Of course I’m angry that I have to miss three games. Portu is doing well and that’s what matters. Throughout my career, I have always been available. But for two or three games where I am unavailable, I don’t think Madrid will fall. I consider myself a great professional. My colleagues and my rivals. I apologized and that’s it. »
