FC Barcelona won against FC Porto this Wednesday in the Champions League (0-1). Not without recording some very bad news at the same time.
Uncompromising against Antwerp a fortnight ago (5-0) for its entry into the Champions League, Barça was much less sovereign on the Porto field this Wednesday during the 2e lifting of the group stage of C1. Thanks to Ferran Torres, it was by the smallest of margins that the Catalans won in the Dragons’ den (0-1). A single goal scored just before the break (45e+1).
This narrow result – preserved despite the expulsion of Gavi in added time (90e+3) – is of course enough for the happiness of Xavi’s men, who thus find themselves with a lead of three lengths over their opponents of the day and over Shakhtar Donetsk – executioner earlier in the evening in Antwerp (2-3 ) – at the head of the group. This without completely softening a bitter aftertaste born from the injury exit of Robert Lewandowski.
The compromised Clasico
Shortly after half an hour of play, the Blaugranas’ Polish striker had to give up his place, the victim of a strong Portuguese tackle which caused one of his ankles to twist. Thus forced to return to the locker room limping, the person concerned could well miss the next deadlines of FC Barcelona, like Pedri, Frenkie De Jong and Raphinha. Remember that Barça has a meeting with Real Madrid at the end of October.
