FIFA has just announced that the 2030 edition of the World Cup will be held in six countries and three different continents.
The highest authorities in world football have just revealed the identity of the host countries for the 2030 World Cup. And there have never been so many of them. Six nations, spread over three different continents, will be invited to the organization of the most beautiful tournament.
The World Cup gets a makeover for its centenary
Instead of deciding between the different candidates, FIFA therefore chose to share the cake and not make anyone jealous. The opening matches will be held in South America and more precisely against Paraguay, Argentina and Uruguay. While the rest of the competition will take place in Spain, Morocco and Portugal.

Gianni Infantino, the head of FIFA, justified this decision by claiming that “in a disunited world, football and FIFA are united”.
“The FIFA Council unanimously agreed to celebrate the centenary of the FIFA World Cup, the first edition of which was played in Uruguay in 1930, in the most appropriate way. As a result, a celebration will take place in South America and three South American countries will each host a 2030 FIFA World Cup match. The first of these three matches will of course be played at the stadium where it all began, in the legendary Estádio Centenário de Montevideo, precisely to celebrate the centenary edition of the FIFA World Cup »added the Swiss, giving more details on the progress of the event.
As a reminder, until now, the World Cup has been co-organized only once. It was during the 2022 edition, which was held in Japan and South America. In 2026, it will take place for the 1e times in three countries, namely the United States, Mexico and Canada.
