Twenty-five years after its victory at Wembley, RC Lens once again beat Arsenal (2-1) in the Champions League. Thomasson and Wahi capsized an incandescent Bollaert.
It was probably worth waiting 20 years to find such intoxication again. For the big return of the Champions League to the Stade Bollaert, RC Lens achieved a superb feat, one of the finest in its European history, by bringing down Arsenal (2-1). One of the Blood and Gold’s favorite prey, definitely.
In a fantastic atmosphere, and despite a good start from Franck Haise’s players, dangerous twice by Danso (5th) and Thomasson (8th), the Lensois nevertheless took a big cold at the end of the first quarter of an hour . After an unsteady pass from Thomasson, intercepted by Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Jesus spun to open the scoring (0-1, 14th).
