The FC Barcelona prodigy has extended his contract with the Catalan club until 2026. His release clause now amounts to 1 billion euros.

It’s a big day for FC Barcelona. The Catalan club has announced the contract extension of its new jewel, Lamine Yamal. The 16-year-old Spanish prodigy is now linked with the Blaugranas until 2026, with a release clause set at 1 billion euros.

Arriving at La Masia at the age of 7, from a Catalan club, CF La Torreta, Lamine Yamal completed all his classes in the Barça training center. He made his first team debut at the age of 15 years, 9 months and 16 days, against Betis in La Liga, on April 29, 2023, becoming the youngest player in the history of FC Barcelona.

This season, he played all 8 La Liga matches played by Xavi’s team, while making his first appearance in the Champions League. A phenomenon of precocity, Lamine Yamal is also the youngest player to have been called up for the Spanish selection, at 16 years and 57 days, against Georgia (7-1). Scorer that day, he made history as the youngest scorer in the history of La Roja. The rest will continue to be written with Barça and Spain.
