Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer says the club paid less than the reported €100 million for Harry Kane.
After a summer of endless negotiations, Harry Kane has finally agreed to join the German giants for a fee of around 115 million euros.
The deal was seen as a victory for the negotiating skills of Spurs chairman Daniel Levy, who secured such a fee for a player arriving in the final year of his contract. Bayern do not see things the same way.
Speaking to the German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Hainer said the price was less than 100 million euros. “ Harry Kane didn’t cost more than 100 million – unless we win this and that over the next few seasons. Without counting bonuses, we are below 100 million.”
With the exact details of player transfers rarely made public, it is not uncommon for both sides to put forward their views on the transaction. On the Tottenham side, Levy claimed last month that a buyout clause had been inserted which would put Spurs in a strong position should Kane return to England.
