Certainly one of the Gunners’ strong men since last season. William Saliba has established himself today as one of the best defenders in the Premier League. The young Frenchman has moved into a new dimension with his club since the last financial year.
With its presence on the field, Arsenal showed itself to be intractable defensively to the point of being a serious candidate for the title in the fight with Manchester City. Mikel Arteta’s men made the Skyblues waver for several months.
However, there was a turning point in the Londoners’ season with the injury to William Saliba last March. In an interview for Téléfoot which will be broadcast this Sunday, the French international affirms that the end of the Gunners’ season would surely have been different if he had been present in the squad.
“Last year I had a good season. Unfortunately I got injured during the final sprint. Yes, clearly with me Arsenal could have been champions,” he declared with confidence.

The title as a goal this season?
Very close to the holy grail last season, Arsenal logically want to do better this season in the Premier League. Currently 6th in the standings with 14 points on the clock before facing Bournemouth this Saturday afternoon, Arsenal will once again have to come up against Manchester City who are showing no mercy at the start of the year.
Pep Guardiola’s men are in first place with a total of 18 points. A perfect start with 6 victories in 6 matches. The players from north London will have to raise their level of play and gain strength very quickly to hope to dislodge the Mancunian ogre.
