Ange Postecoglou is the new darling of the Premier League. Arriving this summer, the former Celtic FC player has had a more than promising start to the season at the head of Spurs, 4th in the standings. Beyond the results (4 wins and 2 draws despite an elimination at the TAB in the Carabao Cup), it is the game offered by Tottenham that pleases. But the Greek coach does not want to get excited. While his team faces Liverpool this Saturday at 6:30 p.m., Postecoglou showed his admiration for the Reds project, from which he takes an example, he, the former fan of Jürgen Klopp’s current club.
“We are looking at Liverpool, Arsenal and even Brighton now. There was a plan there that they stuck to. It hasn’t brought short-term success if you look at the trajectory of these teams. They believed in something and let it grow. They all had a different way of doing it, with different managers with different levels of experience. It’s not easy, as short-term results mean pressure and scrutiny and some clubs buckle under that. Liverpool’s short-term success didn’t come straight away, but they saw that if they supported Jürgen they would reap the rewards., says the Spurs coach, very complimentary. He ends by admitting a certain love towards the Reds: “I was crazy about Kenny Dalglish. For me it was all about Dalglish, whether it was Celtic or Liverpool. I was a crazy Kenny fan. Like any kid, I had posters on my wall, so Liverpool was my team, but when you grow up things change.”
