The Ministry of Sports does not intend to change its mind! This decision follows on from that taken by the Council of State last June which maintained the ban on the veil in official competitions in France, going against the appeal of the collective of Muslim women, “les Hijabeuses”, against the French Football Federation (FFF). As a reminder, FIFA had withdrawn its ban on wearing the veil more than a decade ago, allowing Moroccan Nouhaila Benzina to become the first veiled player to play in a World Cup this summer during the 2023 Women’s World Cup.
