Thanks to a narrow success against Burnley, the Red Devils are giving themselves a little breathing room in the Premier League.

This Saturday evening, Manchester United traveled to Burnley for the sixth day of the Premier League. With a shot from the left, Amdouni beat Onana but saw his attempt hit the right post (18th). Following a corner from Reguilon, Evans placed a cross header at the near post which found its way into the Trafford goal. However, the referee went to check the video. Mr. Harrington did not validate this action, considering that an offside position by Hojlund had hampered the Clarets goalkeeper (26th).

In the final seconds of added time of the first half, Bruno Fernandes opened the scoring in favor of the Red Devils. On a long ball from Evans, the Portuguese volleyed a volley finding the host team’s right side net (45th+3). Manchester United then returned to the locker room with the smallest possible advantage on the scoreboard.

In the second half, Erik ten Hag’s men had the opportunity to make the break on the hour mark. After a good header from Rashford, Hojlund was hampered by Al-Dakhil and narrowly missed the ball. This second act was relatively poor in opportunities. Onana nevertheless saved his team from an equalizer by effectively coming out in front of Roberts (75th).

Thanks to this narrow victory, Manchester United temporarily moved up to eighth place in the Premier League, with nine points on the clock. Burnley is in the bottom position. Earlier in the day, Manchester City scored a sixth victory in a row in the league, winning on home soil against Nottingham Forest.
