Champions League: PSG dominates and beats Borussia Dortmund without difficulty

Will this year be the good one? Grail coveted by PSG since the arrival of QSI in 2011, the Champions League has too often fled the capital club in recent years. This season, Luis Enrique’s men will have the chance to appear in a tough group which will allow them to put themselves in perfect condition for the knockout phase in the event of qualification. This Tuesday, it was Borussia Dortmund who took to the pitch at the Parc des Princes. And, with a Mbappé-Kolo Muani-Dembélé attack, it was the Parisians who had the best start to the match. Despite Donnarumma’s parade on Donyell Malen’s daring attempt (14th), Luis Enrique’s flock were, in the first period, not worried by a low German block. The teammates of Lucas Hernandez, strong this evening, were also protected from any danger thanks to enormous possession (70% throughout the first period). In the offensive phase, the Parisians began to appear dangerous after this quarter-hour observation round. While Kolo Muani was unable to properly recover Dembélé’s dangerous cross (15th), the beautiful strike found the post of Gregor Kobel (19th). However, the numerous Parisian strikes (11 in the first period, only 1 on target) too often escaped the target to worry the Swiss goalkeeper. And after a final parade by the latter in front of Ousmane Dembélé, the two teams parted back to back at the end of a first act largely dominated by the Parisians.

Upon returning from the locker room, Paris Saint-Germain quickly found the solution. Following a superb movement initiated by Ousmane Dembélé, Niklas Süle was guilty of a handball. Jesus Gil Manzano, after confirmation of the VAR, confirmed the penalty that Kylian Mbappé was quick to make (1-0, 49th). Still serious, the capital club doubled the lead a few minutes later. Relying on a one-two with an excellent Vitinha this evening, Achraf Hakimi added to the score with a nice outside foot in the area against his former team (2-0, 58th). Stunned, the players of the Ruhr club then tried to add more impact to the duels but did not succeed in shaking up their opponents. The interesting entries of Niclas Fullkrug and Marco Reus did not change the situation either. While newcomer Jamie Bynoe-Gittens almost reduced the score without Gigio Donnarumma’s post (79th), Borussia Dortmund, despite a slight burst of late pride, conceded a logical defeat. Edin Terzic’s men could even have conceded a third goal if Goncalo Ramos’ goal had not been refused (90+6th). Amorphous, the Germans thus confirm a worrying start to the season. For its part, PSG can boast of having launched its European adventure wonderfully thanks to a serious victory which already allows them to seize first place in their group F. Luis Enrique’s PSG is more more confident of his strengths on the eve of a Classic which looks very promising this Sunday against OM who are in a totally different dynamic both internally and on the field.
