The former Marseille defender made surprising comments this Tuesday about the crisis shaking OM.
Eric Di Méco doesn’t have his tongue in his pocket, especially when it comes to discussing the news of his beloved club OM. And he proved it again this Tuesday by reacting to the latest news coming from the Commanderie.
“Marcelino confirms that he is a weak coach”
The 1993 European champion is passionate, and passion sometimes makes him say surprising things. Speaking on RMC Sport, he suggested that Olympian supporters were right to threaten Pablo Longoria. “The supporters did not summon Longoria. It was a long-planned meeting and it just didn’t go well. It wasn’t Sunday’s result that caused this. And we must not forget that there are backgrounds that we do not know,” he indicated.
📢 Di Meco on Marcelino: “If you run away at the first gust of wind, even if it is very strong and unexpected, you cannot be OM coach! The same thing with Tudor last year, him he steps up to the plate and says: ‘I’ll stay here until the end’, I tell you.” pic.twitter.com/PRaKwBWgv1

Di Meco then criticized Marcelino for wanting to show solidarity with his president by considering resignation. “I don’t mind that we are a city of fools and that everyone is fool, but that doesn’t happen from the moon overnight. When I hear that the coach wants to leave because he heard about the meeting last night, I tell myself that in this case it is better that he leaves and that he is not the coach of the team. OM. If at the first gust of wind you run away with your tail between your legs, don’t come and drag OM away.”
For Di Méco, Marcelino is too timid and he should take inspiration from his predecessor, who in his eyes had more character: “The coach was not threatened. We can’t just say anything. He wasn’t even at the meeting. If you run off at the first gust of wind, you can’t be OM coach. They say he’s soft, and his behavior confirms it. Tudor stayed there until the end.”
