Empoli decided to react before sinking for good. After four defeats in as many matches since the start of the season in Serie A, including a resounding setback against AS Roma last weekend (7-0), the leaders of the red lantern of the Italian championship have made the decision to move the coach of the men’s first team, Paolo Zanetti. “Empoli Football Club announces that Paolo Zanetti and his collaborators Alberto Bertolini, Nicola Beati and Fabio Trentin have been relieved of their duties”we can also read in the official press release from the Italian club.
Paolo Zanetti is therefore the first coach fired in Serie A. The 40-year-old Italian technician is replaced by his compatriot, Aurelio Andreazzoli. The 69-year-old transalpine coach has already coached the Empoli club three times since the start of his career (between 2017-2018, 2018-2019 and 2021-2022). He signed a contract for one season with an additional year optional. “Empoli announces that Aurelio Andreazzoli has been put in charge of technical supervision of the first team”specifies in this sense the latest press release from the Italian club.
