Now fully recovered from her calf injury which caused her to miss the World Cup, Amandine Henry was entitled to her first start with Angel City on Sunday against the Chicago Red Stars (2-2).

Good news keeps coming for Amandine Henry at the end of summer. On Friday, the former Lyonnaise had in fact heard her name mentioned by Hervé Renard during the announcement of the Bleues summoned for the Nations League matches against Portugal and Austria at the end of September. Two months after having to withdraw from the World Cup due to a calf injury, the Lille native is preparing to return to the France team.

And on Sunday, Amandine Henry began her first meeting with Angel City. While she had until then had to be content with a start against Kansas City, the seven-time winner of the Champions League started against the Chicago Red Stars. The Northerner, however, only played 56 minutes before having to leave and give way to Alyssa Thompson. The Californian team then led 1-0, but the match would get carried away in the heart of the second period and the two teammates parted with a parity score (2-2).

“We talk – a lot – about a player who came in mid-season, got injured and, again, worked hard to get back into shape, confided her coach, Becki Tweed, after the meeting. And I think this match was important for her. She started on the bench at Kansas and got her first start this evening. And that’s just the beginning. She will participate in the international break and will continue to work in the right direction to get back in shape and get minutes. »
