Winner this Sunday on the Everton pitch (0-1, 5th day of the Premier League), Arsenal moved up to fourth place in the standings.
As expected, Arsenal had some work to do. Traveling to Everton on Sunday, the London club knew that by going to challenge the eighteenth in the standings, their primary mission would be to find the fault against a regrouped team. The expected scenario was confirmed and it was with difficulty, and on the smallest of margins, that the visitors finally validated their fourth success of the season in the Premier League (0-1).
Ultra-dominant in terms of ball possession (75%), Mikel Arteta’s men immediately took charge and even thought they opened the score in the twentieth minute of play. Unfortunately for them, the Gunners were disappointed when the referee confirmed, with the help of VAR, that Martinelli was in an offside position. Hard blow for the player who would even suffer a second a few minutes later, forced out with an injury (24th) and replaced by Trossard.
Trossard, the entrant who makes the difference
But for Arsenal, things finally ended up going in the right direction and it was this same Trossard who managed to find the solution, on a service from Saka (0-1, 69th). On the Everton side, it was impossible to worry Raya and his defense, with no shots on target in the second half. Far too little obviously to hope to return to the author and prevent the Gunners to validate their victory. Thanks to this result, the latter are back in the ranking, they who are fourth, two points behind the leader, Manchester City. With four defeats and a draw this season, Everton remains in the red zone (18th).
