The brilliant Croatian midfielder, Luka Modric, could possibly return to his training club next year.
The president of Dinamo Zagreb, Vlatka Peras, has just announced that he will try to recruit Luka Modric next January.
Zagreb dreams of a Modric return
The Real Madrid midfielder has yet to start a single match this season. Faced with this new situation, and keen to remain competitive with a view to the Euro in Germany, he suggested that he could consider a new challenge as soon as the transfer window opens.
Zagreb would then be ready to attack. Peras assured that he will call Modric in January to sound him out. “He is in the last year of his contract, I will call him this winter. I can’t say I’m in constant contact with him, but I know members of his family.”declared the boss of the Croatian club.
“For him it would be logical to return to Dinamo at the end of his career. Without a doubt, Dinamo will do everything in their power to achieve this. Now we’ll see if that’s enough.”added Peras.
Ancelotti still counts on his veteran
Note that Zagreb is playing in Europe this season, but in the least attractive competition, namely the Europa Conference League. This would be quite a change for Modric, he who has only known the C1 since he arrived in the Spanish capital in 2013.
A departure of Modric in the middle of the season may not please Carlo Ancelotti too much. During his last press briefing, the Italian coach also wanted to reassure his veteran that he is still counting on him: “When Luka (Modric) renewed his contract he was delighted, then his role changed, but he will have a leading role…. I talk about it with him because he had to put up with the fact that I gave more importance to young players a little longer.”
