Top scorer in Ligue 1 (with 5 goals), Kylian Mbappé is not nominated for the UNFP Player of the Month Trophy for August. His PSG teammate Manuel Ugarte challenges two Asian players!
Ligue 1 top scorer Kylian Mbappé (5 goals) and his two runners-up, Wissam Ben Yedder and Mostafa Mohamed, will not be voted best player of the month of August. The UNFP Player of the Month Trophy for August will be played between Takumi Minamino (Monaco), Manuel Ugarte (PSG) and Mousa Tamari (Montpellier), as revealed on Wednesday by the players’ union.
Recruited for 60 million euros, Ugarte, a Uruguayan defensive midfielder, made an impressive debut with the Parisians. Minamino, for his part, completely relaunched himself under the orders of Adi Hütter and, with two goals and as many assists, fully participated in the journey of ASM, leader of Ligue 1. Finally, Tamari (spelled Moussa Al Tamari in Belgium, where he was recruited) scored three times for the MHSC.
It is particularly unlikely to see two players from the Asian Confederation nominated for the Player of the Month Award. Daisuke Matsui, once nicknamed “the Sun of Le Mans”, was voted player of the month in January 2006. Tamari would become the first player from the Middle East to obtain this award in the history of the French championship.
It’s also the start of the UNFP Player of the Month Trophies 🏆
